At Bulverde Area Humane Society, they say Dixie is sweeter than Dixie Crystal — and honestly, it fits. She has that gentle, comforting kind of personality that makes people instantly relax around her.

Dixie is a Shepherd/Terrier mix born on 07/21/22, weighing about 50 pounds with a perfect mid-level energy level. She enjoys affection, companionship, and the simple things in life. Give her a cool spot to nap in the summer, a warm place to curl up in the winter, and someone to love, and she’ll be completely content.
She isn’t asking for grand adventures or constant entertainment. Dixie just wants to belong to someone.
And maybe that’s what makes her story so heartbreaking.
Dixie was saved from euthanasia, given a second chance at life, and somehow she’s still waiting. After hundreds of days in the shelter, this sweet girl continues to watch people come and go while hoping her person walks through the door.
